Grace Campos

Grace Campos is an emerging artist whose work explores the connections between humanity and the natural world. Originally from rural Southeastern Massachusetts, Grace draws deep inspiration from her surroundings and her background in natural history. Through her art, she examines themes of environmentalism and the balance between human life and the natural environment. Currently, she is a Bachelor of Art candidate with a Minor in Environmental Science at Roger Williams University, with plans to further study art education after graduating. She is the recipient of the 2025 Thomas E Fitzgerald Jr Scholarship. Outside of her studio practice, Grace works with children at local summer programs, where she shares her passion for creativity and encourages students to explore their own artistic voices. As a future educator, she hopes to nurture a love of nature within children to encourage the same inspiration she feels when being outside. Besides nature, she also draws inspiration from her family, who have always encouraged and supported her creativity.

Exploring the relationship between humanity and the natural world, I aim to create feelings of connection between these elements in my work. Growing up in Southeastern Massachusetts, where the ocean meets farmland and forest, has fostered a passion for nature within myself. Using a variety of artistic mediums, including painting, printmaking, and even sculpture, I highlight the beauty of nature while examining the contrasts and connections between human experience and the environment. I often incorporate natural materials such as twigs, leaves and sticks to create sculptures and prints inspired by the world around us. My paintings are heavily inspired by works of the surrealists, in which I use elements of nature as subjects in my work. Animals such as horses, birds, and rabbits serve as recurring motifs in my work, each carrying meanings personal to myself. Family is also a huge inspiration for my process, with many symbols in my work representing people in my life. At its core, my practice is grounded in environmental awareness and a desire to explore the shared narratives between people and the natural world.
